Cuba and Mexico "Team up"
According to http://www.universityregister.org/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=806&Itemid=29 it sayed that Mexico is going to watch out so Cuban immigrants do not come to the United States. This is known as the "wet-foot dry-foot policy". It is said that this is a way to protect the economy from this problem. The other website I looked at, http://www.latimes.com/news/local/immigration/la-fg-mexcuba21-2008oct21,0,1064800.story said that this is most likely to prevent immigrants from coming here. It said that authorities have arrested about 2,000 illegal immigrants just this year. It also said that 11,ooo illegal immigrants (Cubans) made it to the United States this year.
Many Immigrants Go Home
At http://abclocal.go.com/kgo/story?section=news/local&id=6519927 it is said that 500,000 immigrants from Latin America and other parts of the world are going home. At abc.com it said that it was because of the bad economy. It says from August 2007 to May 2008 illegal population has dropped 11 percent. That is a total 1.3 million people. Professor Jimenez says that there will be fewer illegal immigrants coming to America. The other website i looked at, http://www.upi.com/Top_News/2008/11/30/Illegal_immigrants_said_homeward_bound/UPI-70781228067001/ also mentioned that people leaving is because of the economy. But this website did mention that fewer immigrants are trying to get to the United States.
