Cuba and Mexico "Team up"
According to http://www.universityregister.org/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=806&Itemid=29 it sayed that Mexico is going to watch out so Cuban immigrants do not come to the United States. This is known as the "wet-foot dry-foot policy". It is said that this is a way to protect the economy from this problem. The other website I looked at, http://www.latimes.com/news/local/immigration/la-fg-mexcuba21-2008oct21,0,1064800.story said that this is most likely to prevent immigrants from coming here. It said that authorities have arrested about 2,000 illegal immigrants just this year. It also said that 11,ooo illegal immigrants (Cubans) made it to the United States this year.
Many Immigrants Go Home
At http://abclocal.go.com/kgo/story?section=news/local&id=6519927 it is said that 500,000 immigrants from Latin America and other parts of the world are going home. At abc.com it said that it was because of the bad economy. It says from August 2007 to May 2008 illegal population has dropped 11 percent. That is a total 1.3 million people. Professor Jimenez says that there will be fewer illegal immigrants coming to America. The other website i looked at, http://www.upi.com/Top_News/2008/11/30/Illegal_immigrants_said_homeward_bound/UPI-70781228067001/ also mentioned that people leaving is because of the economy. But this website did mention that fewer immigrants are trying to get to the United States.

17 Immigrants Come to US on Thanksgiving
On November 27th 17 illegal immigrants found the United States. At http://www.sunnewspapers.net/articles/pnnews.aspx?NewsID=427306&a=newsarchive2/112808/ch1.htm&pnpg=0 it said that they were dropped of and told to "swim for land". It also said that they are investigating if it is a smuggling. They said this will not be determined until all 17 of them are interviewed by police. According to this website when police got to the scene they were all wet and dirty. They were taken to the fire station where they were. It said that they were taken to ICE were they had background checks. This website says that when they were searching for the boat that brought these people here they found a boat that had a stash of food and soft drinks. The other website that I looked at, http://www.naplesnews.com/news/2008/nov/27/boat-drops-17-cuban-refugees-lee-county-morning-fl/ did not mention that they saw the boat.

Money Sent Home
Migrants are sending money home to their familys. Robert Meins(a bank specialist) says "the money sent home is going as far as it used to". Just recently money being sent home has been soaring. It is said that this is because of lower money transfer costs and increased migration. Robert Meins interviewed a immigrant who was sending 100 dollars a month to her mother. She said she wish she could send more.

Drugs in Mexico Are Bad For Businesses Too
For the past years legal immigrants and illegal immigrant have been smuggling drugs in Mexico. The Mexican government says drugs and violence is slowing down the economy by 1 percent. But businesses have had to spend money even though this shoulnt be their concern. They have to spend money for security purposes. For example 12 bodies turned up outside of one business it is said that these killings are all drug related. The government has said that there will be higher security because of all this drug-related violence.
I think the government should pay for the security not the businesses. It is not the peoples job to defend themselves. The people should not have to worry.

Illegal Immigrants Are Returning to Mexico
Illegal immagrants are returning to Mexico for good says Fox News. The Mexican counsel general in Dallas says "immigration is almost 100 percent higher than two years ago". The Center of Immigration Studies says 1.3 million people have returned to their home countries. People say the immigrants are coming in because looking for better jobs. Other people say it is because that there are no laws preventing immigration.
My opinion is that illegal immagration is bad for the economy. If this was legal immigration it would be fine if it was not illegal. I think there should be stricter laws on immigration legal and illegal. People should be more aware of this problem.
